Length of surgery

The whole operation usually takes 1-1 ½ hours but the patient will be in the operating room in a longer time. The surgery is not carried out immediately as the patient is transferred to the operating room.

There are some things that must be done to prepare the patient for the surgery. The patient will be put to sleep and the skin bacteria will be carefully removed. A piece of cloth will be placed around the patient’s body and the surgical place will be prepared. After everything is done, the surgery will begin.

After the operation, the skin will again be cleaned and a dressing will be applied. When the patient is back to consciousness, she will be transferred to the recovery room. Patients are often permitted to go home the same day after the surgery.
